People always ask me how do I get so lucky and able to ride everything when I go to the parks. I tell them there’s a right way and wrong way to do Disney and I’m very confident that I do it right. Actually, I’m cocky about it because I always have a good time at the parks and I give my guests the best experience ever when going to Disney.
To have the best experience at the parks it starts with your fastpasses. What’s a fastpass you ask? A fastpass allows you to reserve access to select Walt Disney World theme parks attractions, entertainment, and character greetings. It is complimentary with your park ticket so you don’t have to pay extra for using it. Once you purchase your park ticket and link it to your magicband you can start making fastpasses. There’s different ways to set up your fastpasses but they best way is by using the My Disney Experience App. You can book fastpasses over the Internet or the Kiosks in the parks but it’s better to book them in advance and on the app.
If you’re staying on Walt Disney World Resort Property you can book your fastpasses 60 days before your vacation starts. For Annual Passholders and everyone else you can book yours 30 days out. The best advice I can give is to book them on those 30 days out immediately at 7:00am. Get your app or computer ready 5 minutes beforehand then when 7:00am hits, book them right away.
Now that you know what a fastpass is and when to book them let’s talk about which fastpasses to actually book so you get the most fun out of your vacation. I’m going speak from my point of view and how I book my fastpasses. I have no children but if you do and they meet the height requirements here’s what to do. I book my fastpasses for the morning. The earlier you book your fastpasses the better. The Disney Parks allows you to book 3 fastpasses in advance for the day. After you use the 3 initial fastpasses you can book one new one after that. Then after using that 1 fastpass you can book a new one after another for the rest of the day. This is the reason why you want to book your fastpasses for earlier in the day so you can keep booking them throughout the day.

Animal Kingdom

Studios: Slinky Dog Dash
If you’re able to book one of these on trips that’s great but remember the time slot of the ride. You would rather get one during the day then at park close. Honestly, you can ride these rides at park close with shorter wait times. I always ride Slinky Dog Dash 30 minutes before the park closes and I only wait in line for about 45 minutes compared to the 130 minutes.
You can see that I didn’t post the newest attractions and rides under priorities because the chances of getting those right away are very slim. Sometimes you will get lucky and able to snag those hot rides but if you get it for 7pm it’s really not worth it. You have to wait until 7pm to use it where you could of used fastpasses earlier for that day.
After you use your initial 3 fastpasses book your next fastpass right away. For example, your last fastpass ended at 1pm; now book a fastpass for the 1pm-2pm time slot. Pick the first thing that pops up because after riding that ride you can book a new fastpass. That is how you’re going to be able to ride everything in one day. If something pops up at a later time that you really want, click on it to have it. Then press refresh until you get an earlier time. You will get an earlier time but you have to be patient and keep on refreshing.
It is possible to do everything that you want to do at the Disney Parks but you have to be strategic about it. Book your fastpasses for earlier in the day. Get the best rides for your initial 3 fastpasses then make your way down your list after that. Here’s a list of things I’ve done at Magic Kingdom from the hours of 9am-2pm so I only did a half day but was able to ride all these rides.
If you’re not seeing what you really want to ride pop up check the wait times and be smart about it. If your child wants to ride The Little Mermaid and the wait time is 45 minutes; don’t wait in line, give it some time because that time will drop to 5 or 10 minutes throughout the day. Determine what’s worth waiting for in line and what’s worth booking a fastpass for. You paid a lot to be in the parks and you don’t want to waste your day waiting on long wait times for attractions and greetings. Here’s how I set up my fastpasses for each park. Take note on how they’re close together in time.
Now that you know how to book fastpasses, when to book them, and what attractions are worth booking fastpasses for. You are ready to enjoy the Disney Parks and have a great vacation with your friends and family. Always remember that fastpasses are your best friends at the parks.
